Charles Imstepf was born in 1957 to chef/sommelier father and a design mother in Zurich, Switzerland until the family moved to Pasadena, California in 1968. Growing up Leica became his best friend and the lens through which he began the pursuit of being an artist.
Charles path of experience includes photo-entrepreneur, photojournalist, top-secret aerospace engineering photographer, advertising photographer and eventually commercial director. He has discovered great success courting & shooting for advertising clients like Burger King, Mars, Dole, Nestle, Herbalife, Baskin Robbins, Kelloggs, Thermador and Pedigree.
The IMSTEPF pledge: We construct creative photography for advertising. We are food photographers who study food. We enjoy photography and the topic of food. We choose food photography because we appreciate food and its culture down to our toes. Food as a subject is nourishing, sensual, and sumptuous. Food feeds our families, friends and our souls. Not to mention our clients, their bank accounts and then ours, and in that order. In sum, Food Photography is one of the best places to live. We take pleasure in creating it, eating it, arranging it, and photographing it.
